Dr. Liz Goes Red

Updated: Nov 23, 2019

  • Today is Heart Health Day. I'm wearing red to bring awareness to the dreadful effects of heart disease and high blood pressure. ❤ Without overwhelming you with statistics, I'll just share that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women. 😯 What is startling is that 49% of Black women 20 years an older have heart disease! Many don't even know they have it. 😟 ❤ There is no warning sign to the buildup of heart disease. You have to get regular checkups to find out your risk. But if you've been diagnosed, there are several warning signs of an attack such as

  • chest discomfort

  • shortness of breath

  • nausea, cold sweats

  • lightheadedness

  • upper body discomfort in arms, back, neck, jaw & upper stomach. Sisters, brothers, pleaaase remember that heart disease is your greatest health risk. Read food labels for salt content, stay active, keep your blood pressure under control, and schedule regular doctor visits.
